University of Guyana 
The University of Guyana (UG) was established on
October 1, 1963 under specific ordinance as an evening
institution. The University started, T64 students enrolled
for classes in the Faculties of Arts, Natural Sciences
and Social Sciences.
The University's current enrolment at Turkeyen is
approximately 5,000 students in the Faculties of
Agriculture, Arts, Education, Health Sciences, Natural
Sciences, Social Sciences and Technology, pursuing
more than 60 full time under-graduate programmes in
Accountancy, Aeronautical Engineering, Agriculture,
Architecture, Chemistry, Communications, Education,
Engineering, Environmental Science, Forestry, Law,
Medicine, Modern Languages, Nursing, Pharmacy and
Social Work. There are also postgraduate programmes
in the Faculties of Arts, Education, Natural Sciences
and Social Sciences. To date, more than 12,000 students
have graduated and gone on to successful careers both
locally and internationally.
